Greetings Ladies and Gentlemen! Denny Crane here, and I want to be your new best-ever pal. I have about 4 years of experience as a basset hound, most recently coming from a short stay in the west-side shelter, after being brought in as a stray.

Hello, my name is Dora and I am about 9 years old. I came to AZBHR with a number of health issues. I had a couple of cysts removed and was spayed. I can tell you one thing, I am very glad that I have been spayed. As you can see in my photos I have had more than my share of puppies over the years. My health issues have all been addressed and taken care of.

Single tri-color Basset boy seeks an active, loving, Basset experienced family or person that can provide him exercise and a structured place to fit in. Rocket is a very youthful 6 year old fellow with lots of tiny spots that make him look unique.

Nelson is a 7 year old tri-color basset hound taken in by the rescue from the shelter. He weighs about 55 pounds, and has the most adorable bottom crooked teeth and long, black distinguished eye brows that make him stand out from the crowd.

TTrisha is a 40 lb petite Basset Hound, around 4 years old, that came from Maricopa County after being found as a stray so we don’t know her history. Trisha does not do well with other dogs as she becomes very territorial of her people, dog beds and more. Trisha LOVES her people and has been around adults and children age 10 and above.

Hi, my name is Annie. I am a 2.5 year old girl with a lot of spunk. I am a lover and want to be with my human. Since I have so much energy I would prefer to have another palymate. I am ready to go just say so.

My name is Harley and I'm a cute, laid-back Texas gal. I'm 9 years old, but don't let that fool ya, I can bounce and run like a girl half my age. I don't really understand playing with toys yet, but I've learned it's okay to snuggle with my foster mom and give her kisses.

This sweet 5 years old girl, joined our foster family in early April. She has fared extremely well with three bonded male hounds and is secure within the pack.  Daisy was obviously neglected and mildly abused. She is doing far less cowering and rolling over into a submissive position. With encouragement and coxing she has become more confident and secure.

Estella is a sweet, loving senior of 8 years young. She is mellow and gets along well with all she meets. She enjoys a good belly rub and lots of attention from her people. She does have difficulty with stairs so a single story home would be best for her. Estella can use her voice when appropriate, but is not an indiscriminate barker.

Adam is a very young 10 year old. He LOVES to chase balls, cats and play chase with other dogs at the dog park. He also enjoys belly rubs and dinner. Adam gets along with all dogs and really enjoys the company of people, especially men.  Adam came to the rescue with his good friend Eve. They are buds, but get along just as well individually.

Eve is a 10 year old, mature matron. Eve is on the large side, tipping the scales at 80 pounds. She has lost 8 pounds since coming into the rescue with her buddy Adam.   Looking at the two of them it is clear who ruled the food bowl. Eve gets along well with people and other dogs. She thinks cats are great entertainment and tries to chase the outdoor cats that come into her yard.

My name is Peppermint and my foster parents like to say I am as sweet and thin as a Peppermint Stick candy. I am about 6 years old and have not had such a great life. I came to AZBHR with a bad case of heart worms. I guess my previous owners didn’t notice or care that there might be a serious reason I was so skinny.

Whopper is a 2-3 year old, male, red and white basset hound. He is an easy going, loving and active basset hound. He wants to be in the middle of the action and enjoys helping with the household chores. He loves to go for long walks and is learning about playing with toys.

My name is Flash and am 11 years old. I recently made a long journey with several other brothers and sisters from Texas to Arizona. My foster home is busy with small/large dogs and older children. I sometimes see the neighborhood cat come into the yard, but really don’t have any interest in introducing myself.

Meet Athena. She is a red and white, 7yr old spayed Basset. She exhibits all of the good and not so good behaviors of a typical Basset Hound. She loves all children and people, in fact she would love to just lay in her peoples lap. She enjoys car rides and walks. Athena absolutely loves her food. She will follow almost any command if treats are included.

Blue is a nine year old tri colored basset hound. He came from the shelter, so I don't know much about his background. He is house broke and goes to the door when he needs to go out. He likes to go on walks a couple of times a day. He prefers not to be left alone, but if there is another dog around he is okay.

Eden is a 9 year old who was relinquished to AZBHR by her former owner, who simply did not want her anymore. She is a beautiful lemon and white colored basset with a very gentle and quiet disposition. Eden loves to go for rides in the car, visit the doggy park, or just walk on her leash.

Hi! I'm Jack - so called because I may be half basset, but my foster mom is convinced I have some Jack Russell terrier in me! I am one happy, bouncy dog! If someone had a frisbee, she is convinced I could become a champion! Apparently, she doesn't have one because my four-legged foster brothers and sisters just kind of sit around here not doing much.
