Donny was rescued from the shelter on the west side. He
is about 10 years old and, judging from the condition he was in, he must
have been on his own for some time. He was extremely thin with a skin
infection, intestinal infection, and an eye infection, had a large
hernia, as well as several large cysts, and also tested positive for
Valley Fever. The hernia has been repaired and he has recovered from
that surgery. He is currently getting bathed daily with special shampoo
for his skin infection. He is on meds for the Valley Fever and his
intestinal infection. He will soon be scheduled for surgery to remove
the larger cysts. Whew--that's a lot to recover from, but Donny is a
very patient patient!

As skinny as he is, he is still a very large basset, currently weighing
in at 72 lbs, and is a tricolor with some distinguished graying of his
face. He is eating well and gaining weight and his coat is shiny and
clean. He gets along very well with other dogs and he enjoys going for
walks and loves his doggy bed! |
