Molly has a lot of energy and is very sweet. She's about 1 year old, and she loves kids and other dogs. She does like to climb over the fence and steal things from the neighbors yard if she is not getting enough attention. She also likes to chew on things so she needs to have toys and bones that are acceptable for her.

Treasure is indeed a treasure! She is a bit timid at first but warms up very quickly. At 4 years old she was taken out of a very bad situation but is now safe and recovering her confidence. Treasure is thin for her size but she is eating regularly and putting on weight.

Manny is about five years old and his story starts at the East Side Shelter. He was taken into boarding for four days. Manny was 103 pounds and so fat that he was mistakenly called a girl at both the shelter and the boarding facility. So his foster mom arrived to pick up "Big Betty" only to find that in fact she was a he. Poor guy. So now he has a proper boy name and is happy.

Marlowe is a sweet 3 year old boy who loves every person that he has ever met. He has some issues with separation anxiety so this lovely fellow would do best in a home with someone who was around most of the time and with another dog around his size.

My family had to give me up because He was leaving for the military and she became pregnant and they just weren’t able to give me the time and attention I deserved, so they gave me to Arizona Basset Hound Rescue. I was never sent to a pound, only to foster parents’ home.

Ishtar was a Babylonian Goddess, who was said to be the Queen of Heaven. Our Ishtar would be happy just to be the Queen of Your Heart. She is an ex-puppy mill mom. She is 2 to 3 years old and weights just 36 lbs. She is a beautiful dog inside and out. The first thing I noticed about Ishtar was how intelligent she was. She learned house training and basic commands such as sit and stay practically over night.

Emily and Natalie came to AZBHR from a puppy mill in Missouri. They are both shy and not very trusting of people. When they first came to their foster home they spent most of their time outside. If given the time they both will warm up to you and start giving you the love they have in them. Both girls are very sweet and loving.

Freida is about 4 years old and came from the puppy mill and is so sweet and friendly yet timid at times. Freida is a very small Basset weighing in at 23 pounds and very small in size; tri-color and has one blue eye and one brown eye. Freida is very playful and MUST have a playmate hound in her forever home.

Zoe is a small female black and white basset from a puppy mill in north Texas. When she first got to her foster home she did not even know what affection was but now she knows and loves it. She is very special and likes to follow her foster mom everywhere. She plays great with our other dogs and loves to snuggle.

Blossom Dearie was a popular jazz singer in the '50s and 60's and AZBHR's Blossom Dearie is a pretty jazzy singer herself, and only 2 or 3 years old. If urged, she has an impressive range of vocal arooo's. She's fine with my other dogs, and like the good girl she is, the kitties are not chased or bothered.

I am Stewie and I am a 3 years old lemon and white male. I was freed from an unfortunate living situation in Pinal County that didn’t treat us bassets too well. That being said, I am great with cats, other dogs, people and have been told I have one of the gentlest mouths around these parts. Foster dad hasn’t seen me with children yet but I have assured him I am great with them...

Hi! I'm Duke! I'm 3-4 years old and came to AZBHR from Yuma, where my owner had a bunch of other bassets. One day, all of us got into a squirmish and one of us bit him. He didn't know which basset did, but Animal Control forced him to choose one of us to relinquish, and I was the one he pointed to. But, I have to tell you, I don't have one aggressive bone in my body.

Basil is a wonderful, sweet curious  4 year old boy that has never met a stranger. He's a typical hound in that he wants to be involved in everything and needs to know what is going on. He is crate trained and doing very well on potty training when let out on a regular basis.

Clementine is around 3 or 4, she's a copper color with white markings. She is very thin and small for a Bassett. Our foster home coordinator is Robin and our intake day was 7/31. She is so sweet, truly a great girl. She has not had any accidents in our home, sleeps on her own in the crate and gets along very well with are other dogs.

Hendo was rescued from the Pinal County Shelter. He is about 7 years old and it's easy to see that he is quite endearing. He is a gentleman that loves attention from his foster family. He has done great with other dogs of any size, is house trained and even knows all about the doggie door. He has been wonderful with children and just wants to be included in any family event.

Herbie the LOVE Bug coming at you and yes I'm so CUTE! I'm about 8-10 years old with hip displacia so I'm not what you call a very active Basset....I'm very much on the mellow side.  I'll all black except for a bit of brown and white.  I recently had 2 teeth removed and a dental done so my teeth are shiny and clean.
