Meet Rex
My
name is Rex, that is what my foster family named me. I
was found in Yuma, weighing in at 76 lbs and full of
Mange. Mange is a horrible skin disease that covered 60%
of my body. I have big scabs all over my body and must
admit that I am not very handsome. Don't worry, the vet
said I am not contagious. Fortunately the Human Society
called AZBHR to help find a foster home for me.
My foster family lives in New River. John, a volunteer,
drove all the way to Yuma to pick me up. He was so kind
and said I was a good boy in the car. I was so
depressed because my doggie life, until now, has been
pretty bad. I was so thin and was sure no one loved me,
especially with all this mange.
My family tells me I am handsome and very well behaved.
I need to have a bath every day until this mange stuff
goes away and I have ear and eye drops too. I love to
come into the house and take my naps--hounds are good
sleepers, you know?
I love my foster brothers and sisters, two Bloods, two
Chihuahuas, one Jack Russell and a Queensland. I don't
dislike cats, just curious and I must admit that when I
first saw the horses I was scared but soon learned we
could be friends.
Even though I am enjoying my life here, my foster mom
tells me there will be a loving family who will take me
home and shower me with all the love and affection I
need. Hounds are wonderful family members, we are loyal,
affectionate, and playful. My foster family has
grandchildren and when they come to visit I love to
follow them around and watch them play. The thing I
love the best in our big yard is to sniff all the
ground, it makes me feel like I have a job to do.

Meet Ms. Brenda Luna
Brenda
Luna is approximately 2-3 years old. She came to AZBHR
after being found as a skinny, scared stray by the White
Mountain Humane Society. Brenda has obviously been
through traumas that we will never know about. She is
missing one eye and has a permanent limp on her back
hind leg from a fracture that did not heal properly.
Don't worry though this girl has gained nearly 20 lbs,
and runs and plays constantly with her bloodhound foster
sister.
Brenda is dog door trained and loves bathing in the sun.
She has been working with her foster family and a
trainer to address her puppy like behavior and high
energy level. She does at times fear being confined and
or crated but with patience and treats she is beginning
to enjoy her own space. Brenda needs a family committed
to continuing her training and would do best in a very
active home. She will do well with or without other dogs
and children (currently she lives with 3 seven year olds
and 5 other dogs).
Won't you please consider giving Brenda the love and
forever family she deserves?

Meet Myles and Sweetness
Both
Myles and Sweetness came from horrible living
conditions; suffering from tick infestation resulting in
tick fever. They had parasites and were extremely
thin.
Myles is a 2-3 year old, male, pure bred Black and Tan
Bloodhound, and despite his living conditions, loves
people and loves to have his ears rubbed. He is very
mellow and gets along with everyone. He has a keen
sense for people food, so he does love to surf the
counters, but with a little training he will make a
wonderful companion. He thinks he is a lap dog and he
loves to be near his people and will greet you with a
big arrooo when you come home.
Sweetness, is just the sweetest little girl. She is a
red Blood mix, with long ears and those bloodhound
wrinkles. She is about 5 months old and is recovering
from the tick fever and parasites. She loves playing
with her foster brothers and sisters and is very calm,
for being so young. She would love to have a playmate
in her new home. She loves to snuggle with her big
foster brother Waylon.

Won't you open your home and show these sweet hounds
what the good life can be like? |
