Becoming a Foster Home

Being a foster home for a Basset in need is probably the most important way you can help!  As a foster home you take in a homeless hound that we've rescued, care for them, love them, get them acquainted with a healthy home-life, and make sure they're treated right until we find a good home for them. Sometimes you'll need to nurse them back to health (all vet bills are paid for by AZBHR), but that is very rewarding to see them thrive under your care.

As a foster, you'll be expected to get to know the dog for at least two weeks.  This affords you the ability to learn what they like and don't like (such as kids and cats), find if they have any special needs, and just evaluate their overall personality.  By doing this, you help determine the right type of household to place that dog into once they're ready for adoption.

Yes, it can be difficult to let them go after you've gotten to know them and love them, but it is also very rewarding to know that they're going to the right home.  But best of all, You'll know that you have actually helped save a life!
